Tundra Hi, Tundra was enrolled in an agility training course when he was 1 1/2 years old. He waited his turn in his usual manner. He howled and wooed! The instructor put up with his noise for awhile until it started to become an issue. She instructed me to go first with Tundra on each of the following exercises. I was to take Tundra across an elevated bar. She stood beside the bar to ensure that each dog was safe and didn't fall off. Tundra walked part way across and lifted his leg and peed on her. I was completely embaressed! Tundra is a Mal who doesn't forget any past pain. When he was a pup I took him to the river to introduce him to water. He was accompanied by our other Mal who loves water. Tundra thought he would love the water and took a running leap into the river. As soon as he hit the water we realized that Tundra would not be a water dog. It was too cold! His ears went down and his tail went between his legs, and he raced out of the water. He is now 4 years old and to this day, he hates water. Tundra also keeps the squirrel population in check. We have quite a few large squirrels in our city and on a few occasions we have returned to see him with a tail sticking out of his mouth. We are completely grossed out and have pulled the tails from his mouth. He also has eaten gophers without chewing. He simply swallows. On an early morning walk he raced away from my husband. My husband called but he didn't return. My husband followed him into the trees and saw him treeing a small black bear. On another occasion my daughter and myself were walking both Mals. We were in a treed area and Tundra spotted something infront of us. He stopped suddenly. He pushed himself against my legs and then turned and pulled me back along the path that we had just come along. He was definitely frightened. My daughter and I assumed it was a bear and we went along. He literally pushed us off the path as he raced back toward the car. We still don't know what he saw that day but he convinced us!
