A Nylabone Zak is the boss of the two although he weighs in at 100 lbs. while his brother Fenner tips the scales at 120 lbs. Since Zak is the boss and is in charge (or attempts to be in charge), Fenner has developed a knack for outsmarting his brother. For example, with malamutes, possession is roughly a little more than 9/10ths of the law. If Zak wants something Fenner has in his possession (toy, nylabone, etc.) Zak doesn't hesitate to walk over and claim it. Fenner doesn't put up much of fuss. However, if Fenner wants his nylabone back, he will (and he has done this on more than one occasion) walk over to the door as if he wants to go outside. Zak, with nylabone in firmly grasped between forepaws and incisors takes notice of his brother's desire to go out. Being the alpha, it's only natural for him to think, "Fenner's going out, I should be going out first." So Zak noses past Fenner and goes outside first, forgetting that he has left behind the prized nylabone that he has recently claimed. With Zak safely outside, Fenner stops dead in his tracks (not being interested in going outside in the first place), turns around proceeds to reacquire the nylabone. Zak has eventually figured out the scam, as he now picks up the nylabone before nosing past Fenner to go outside.
