Bruno's Journal Part 2 Aahh, I love this duration of time. There are so many marvelous scents on the breeze. The girl next door looks beautiful to me all of a sudden. Her wonderful scent floats over from her territory. My brother Joe started bringing her over each day so we could play. We communicated about lots of stuff, but mostly about a dog's life. A dog's life can be real good, especially if ya have a human who is a truly loving friend who you can trust completely to be kind & patient. Snip is her name. Here she comes now. We play and hug each other now and then, and when we get hot we jump into my pool. She loves to stick her head and all under the water. She stays under for what seems a long time. The first time she did it I thought she was dead, so I pulled her up out of the water with my teeth and dropped her on the grass outside of the pool. She didn't like that at all. She was angry toward me for a while and chased me around and around. Soon she grew hot again and dove headfirst into the pool again. When we play I have to be very careful not to tromp on her. Some times she gets a little too playful with my ears. My ears never stood straight such as my mother, and all of my brothers & sisters. My father had thicker ears than I did. I got the same size as his but mine were too thin to stand up. There is at least one compensation though; the flying buzzing bugs can't fly into my ears. A down side to it all is that snip likes to chew on my ears. That has got to be one of the weirdest ways to show affection I can imagine. At least she can't bite my tail seeing as I don't have much more of a tail than a bear or a deer. It has been somewhat embarrassing for me through the years. My mother is a purebred show dog. Between my father and mother I guess that makes me a muttamute. Joe says I might be a muttamute but I am the most interesting crossbreed he and many others have ever seen. When we go out together humans are always stopping whatever they are doing to ask what I am and how beautiful I am. How would you like it if you were out on the town with a girl and people kept calling you beautiful? I'm a guy dog for heavens sake. Oh well, that’s life. I haven't seen my human dad for a long period of time. In human years I guess you would calculate about two years. After a while I felt sadness inside me, and a touch of insecurity. I began to realize that he did what some animals do when their life is ready to end. They leave the pack. It is a good thing that my brother Joe had come to rejoin our pack. He is a lot like our dad and looks just like him, almost. Joe spent hours and hours with me going places in the forest and to squirrel land. Nothin like a good ol squirrel chase to take your attention off of thoughts you don't want to think of. A lot has happened since I last saw dad. That can wait for another entry later. Suffice it to say that for some unknown reason, in a matter of 2 hours or so I lost my eyesight. I'll close for now, and wish every creature much happiness. Bruno Pulsipher Special Note: Bruno recently lost his vision due to a possible infection from rooting (sticking his nose down holes made by critters). It’s very hard to say. It takes a strong owner to meet the special challenges of taking care of a disabled pet. We wish both Bruno’s owners and Dailly’s owners the best.
